Fitz but they know it

4/5

Fitz & The Tantrums are a six-piece L.A. band whose soul-motown revival is so to the point you would be forgiven for describing their style as cliché.

It seems to be increasingly common amongst bands to intentionally ape 1960s soul classics; whilst the blogosphere has been going wild for Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti Cee-Lo Green has created one of the most timeless songs since ‘Rehab’ with ‘Fuck You’. So it is difficult to imagine what Fitz & The Tantrums can do to make themselves stand out.

Albeit unorignial, they have taken classic styles and improved them, with craftsmanship that far surpasses the Duffys and Ronson of this world.
Whilst the opening track can’t work out whether it is a haunted fairground or porn film the likes of ‘Money Grabber’ and ‘Don’t Gotta Work It Out’ will keep you coming back for more.
