Style O’Clock has to admit: it has never actually been to a festival (except if you count a day spent at V scowling and wearing a raincoat, aged 17). So, it is with with trepidation that I advise you seasoned festival goers as to what to wear. However, Style O’Clock does know a thing or two about bralets, and following the advice of my esteemed colleague Arpita in ‘The OxStu on…’ it appears that bralets are not only a major trend on the high street this year, but a festival staple. The humble bralet has been gaining popularity year on year; once the preserve of those brave enough to wear a more modest bra as outerwear, you can now find an abundance of the things in all colours, shapes and sizes to suit even the most reticent of wearers (the last part of that is maybe not true – it’s not called a bralet for nothing). So, look chic this year whatever the weather, for indeed, if it all goes to pot, one woman’s skimpy top is another’s very warm bra under a jumper!
1. Go for a classic casual summer look by throwing a denim jacket over your bralet. Wear with bold accessories and some study boots for potential mud-stomping situations.
2. If its looking chilly, pair your bralet with an Oxford staple, the trusty Barbour.
3. If on the other hand, its looking sunny, wear with a high waisted flowing skirt and some barely there sandals to unleash your inner flower-power. Flower optional.
